In a world of global communications, of travel in which time seems to be limited by the effect of mechanization and industrial production, in which the machine has completely replaced the skilled manual work of the craftsman, Cuervo y Sobrinos still uses manual skills, each item being produced individually and numbered, in their continuous search for the most demanding public, people with refined tastes.

All the cases are extracted, after the craftsmen’s skilled labours, from a single block of excavated metal. Numerous stages are necessary to complete the preparation of each item and the intervention of capable hands presides over these slow operations. Each gold case is then heat tempered to give it strength and shine, ending with the numbering and engraving.

This case-manufacturing procedure is the same one that has been used by Cuervo y Sobrinos for more than a century, old craft techniques that afford a high degree of quality control over each object and all its components, scrupulously following the guidelines set down in the old designs that have been rediscovered.

Each phase of manufacture passes through continuous and strict quality controls; as in all the components, they are methodically prepared in all the phases of production, up to the final control, before the watch leaves the production line. These conditions allow Cuervo y Sobrinos to guarantee that each watch has indeed been built like “a work of art”.

Nothing is rushed in the construction of each watch; time is lived little by little, with each second that passes being awaited with pleasure, so that it will be reproduced, almost by magic, on the wrist of people with taste and in the collector’s hands.

The watch-faces are made by skilled artisans out of enamelled porcelain, with the numerals and the name Cuervo y Sobrinos Habana applied, reproducing the designs recovered from the house’s archives. The faces are coloured in different variations, depending on the colour of the metal used in the case.

The strap, made of highly elaborated crocodile skin of the highest quality, is entirely sewn by hand and is available in a classical range of colours. The clasp made out of 18 carat gold in the case of gold watches is personalized with the Cuervo y Sobrinos brand.

In the case of the steel models, a special safety clasp is used that opens out, also personalized with the brand’s logo.

For the made-to-order models in gold, an elegant 18 carat gold bracelet is used in a typical design of the forties with grain of rice links and a hidden unfolding and personalized clasp.
